Goodbye, 2012

Usually, for DH and I’s anniversary, I write him a letter telling him all the things we’ve done this year that has added to our lives.  I haven’t done that yet, and today I realized why.  I don’t want to think about this year as a whole yet.  I’m not exactly sure why, maybe I’m just overwhelmed by just how much HAS happened this year.  It’s been a year with too much and not enough, all at once, and I can’t wrap my head around it.

So, I’m just saying Goodbye to 2012 right now, and I’m not going to process it.  Maybe after the new year, once we’re actually into 2013, then things will be different.

  1. It’s nice to get a clean slate once a year, isn’t it? I mean, obviously everything that went down is still there in your past, but there is something special about being able to say, “That was 2012. It is OVER. Now it’s time for something new.” I hope 2013 brings you joy and more joy.

  2. it has been a big year for you, even just from what you’ve shared with us. hope the new year brings you even more progress and forward movement.

i tend not to think of old year/new year. my year mentally still starts in september and ends in june, like it has since i was in kindergarten, hahaha!! but, i must confess to “back to school dread” at the end of a holiday break. although, it’s “back to work dread” now….

    • Oh, I know exactly what you mean. My year really ends once we get to the end of the spring semester and I have a reasonable number of classes for the summer. I used to try too hard to make Jan 1 matter… now, it’s just a place marker, like my birthday (remember when birthdays were a big deal???).

I like your new bat icon, though I dunno if you actually chose that one.
